1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Patricia J. Fleming of Palos
4 Heights, Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Patricia Fleming was the longest serving member
6 of the Moraine Valley Community College Board of Trustees;
7 she was in the midst of her fourth six-year term on the
8 board, serving over 20 years total; and
9 WHEREAS, Patricia Fleming was a computer science teacher
10 at Queen of Peace High School in Burbank since her retirement
11 five years ago; she previously served as a teacher at Morgan
12 Park High School and Marian Catholic High School; and
13 WHEREAS, Patricia Fleming loved to travel and enjoyed
14 foreign culture and the arts; and
15 WHEREAS, She served the Moraine Valley Community College
16 Board of Trustees in different capacities, including terms as
17 chairperson, vice chairperson, and Board secretary; she also
18 served 14 years as the Board representative to the Illinois
19 Community College Trustees Association, 2 years as chair of
20 the association's South Suburban Region, 2 years as the
21 representative to the Association of Community College
22 Trustees, and 3 years on that association's "Putting America
23 Back to Work" Task Force; and
24 WHEREAS, Patricia Fleming served as chair for many of the
25 Board of Trustee committees, including the Faculty Committee,
26 the Finance/Investment Committee, the Human Resources/Staff
27 Development Committee, the Academic Excellence Committee, and
28 the Academic Committee; she also served as the Board's
29 representative to the college's Foundation; and
30 WHEREAS, Patricia Fleming is survived by her mother,
31 Betty Stella, and her 11 cousins; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
3 all that knew and loved her, the death of Patricia Fleming of
4 Palos Heights, Illinois; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the family of Patricia Fleming.
