 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
 3    of the death of Louis R.  Bertani  of  Joliet  on  Wednesday,
 4    April 28, 1999; and

 5        WHEREAS,  He  was born in Joliet on May 19, 1928, the son
 6    of Louis D. and Helen Henke Bertani; he graduated from Joliet
 7    Township High School, Joliet Junior College, and  DePaul  Law
 8    School; and

 9        WHEREAS,  He began his practice in 1951 with the law firm
10    of Krusemark & Bertani before serving as Will County  State's
11    Attorney  from  1968  to 1972; he was with Herschbach, Tracy,
12    Johnson, Bertani and Wilson for over 20 years and with Tracy,
13    Johnson, Bertani, and Wilson at the time of his death; and

14        WHEREAS, He was appointed by the Illinois  Supreme  Court
15    to   conduct   Character  and  Fitness  Examinations  of  Bar
16    applicants; he served as a  Board  Member  and  President  of
17    Joliet  Public  School  District  No.  86,  a member of UNICO
18    International, the Italian American Commercial Club, American
19    Italian Cultural Society, the Joliet Elks Lodge #296, and the
20    Church of St. Anthony; and

21        WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt  by  his  family
22    and  friends,  especially  his  wife  of 50 years, Doris; his
23    sons, Louis Robert, Matthew Gerard, and Peter  Paul  Bertani;
24    his  daughters,  Mary Therese Jostes, Susan Mary Bertani, Amy
25    Marie Tomczak, Mary Joyce Skubic, and  Eileen  Mary  Jackson;
26    his   daughters-in-law,   Nancy,   Kathy,   and  Andrea;  his
27    sons-in-law, Robert Jostes, Jeffrey Tomczak, Michael  Skubic,
28    and Todd Jackson; his grandchildren, Jennifer and Christopher
29    Jostes,  Wendy  and  Bryan  Bertani, David, Daniel, and Sarah
30    Skubic, Mickey, Chloe, and Madeline Jackson, Anna  and  Louis
31    Bertani,  and  Ursulina  and  Rose  Tomczak; his sister, Jean
32    Stobbe; his nephews, Steven and John Stobbe; and his  brother

 1    and sister-in-law, Gerry and Jean Agazzi; therefore, be it

 2        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
 3    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note  with  sorrow
 4    and  regret  the  death  of  Louis  R. Bertani and extend our
 5    sincere condolences to his family  and  friends;  and  be  it
 6    further

 7        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 8    presented to his widow, Doris M. Bertani.
