 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
 3    of the death of Ralph H. Martin of  Des  Plaines  on  Friday,
 4    March 5, 1999; and

 5        WHEREAS,  He  was  born in Buffalo, New York, on March 3,
 6    1930; he and his wife moved to Des Plaines in  1957,  shortly
 7    after   Mr.  Martin  graduated  from  Indiana  University  in
 8    Bloomington; he began working  at  his  father-in-law's  real
 9    estate firm after moving to Illinois; and

10        WHEREAS,  He  was  the  president  of William L. Kunkel &
11    Company Realtors;  he  participated  in  State  and  national
12    discussions about real estate issues as past president of the
13    Illinois  and  Northwest  Suburban  Board  of  Realtors and a
14    member of the National  Association  of  Realtors'  board  of
15    directors; and

16        WHEREAS,  A  past city alderman, Mr. Martin was a charter
17    member of the Des Plaines Economic Development Commission and
18    headed the Des Plaines Historical Society; he was a member of
19    the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, and Lattof YMCA; and

20        WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt  by  his  family
21    and  friends, especially his wife, Frances; his sons, Stewart
22    and Glen; his daughters, Elizabeth Martin and Suzanne Mahnke;
23    his daughter-in-law, Maris; his  son-in-law,  Robert  Mahnke;
24    his  grandchildren, Miles, Taryn, Brystel, and Emily; and his
25    brother, William; therefore, be it

26        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL
27    ASSEMBLY  OF  THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
28    and regret the death  of  Ralph  H.  Martin  and  extend  our
29    sincere  condolences  to  his  family  and friends; and be it
30    further

31        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be

 1    presented to his widow, Mrs. Frances Martin.
