 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
 3    of the death of Michael  W.  Hindman  of  Effingham,  UniServ
 4    Director  for Region 7 of the Illinois Education Association,
 5    on December 31, 1998; and

 6        WHEREAS, He was born in Anna on November  16,  1943,  the
 7    son  of  Glenn  R. and Etta Belle Hooppaw Hindman; he married
 8    Dr. Carol R. Hourigan on July 17, 1998; and

 9        WHEREAS, He was a member of the ARC  Board  of  Trustees,
10    vice  chairman  and  former secretary of the Effingham County
11    Democratic Central Committee,  past  county  coordinator  for
12    many  State  and  national  Democratic candidates, Democratic
13    precinct committeeman for Summit  Township,  member  of  Fine
14    Arts  County of Effingham, member of the Effingham Elks Lodge
15    1016, member of the Southern Illinois University Alumni Band,
16    member of the Effingham County  Coalition  of  Citizens  with
17    Disabilities,   member   of   the   American  Association  of
18    University Women, and past member of the United Way Board  of
19    Directors; and

20        WHEREAS,  His  passing  will be deeply felt by his family
21    and  friends,  especially  his  wife,  Carol;  his  daughter,
22    Michelle Pals;  his  stepson,  Ryan  Hourigan;  his  sisters,
23    Rebecca   Martin  and  Gwen  Hindman;  and  3  grandchildren;
24    therefore, be it

25        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL
26    ASSEMBLY  OF  THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
27    and regret the death of Michael W.  Hindman  and  extend  our
28    sincere  condolences  to  his  family  and friends; and be it
29    further

30        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
31    presented to his widow, Dr. Carol L. Hourigan.
