 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, This Body was saddened to learn of the death  of
 3    Mr. Clyde L. Martin of Effingham; and

 4        WHEREAS,  Clyde  L.  Martin  was  a  lifelong resident of
 5    Effingham County; and

 6        WHEREAS, He owned and operated with pride Martin's IGA in
 7    Effingham, the world's largest-volume IGA store; and

 8        WHEREAS, Clyde L.  Martin  was  a  member  of  the  First
 9    Baptist  Church of Effingham where he served as Sunday school
10    superintendent from 1936 to 1961; and

11        WHEREAS, Mr. Martin served as an Effingham  City  Council
12    member   from  1963-1971  and  as  mayor  of  Effingham  from
13    1971-1979; and

14        WHEREAS, He served as former  president  of  the  Greater
15    Effingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and

16        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Martin  worked  for and supported the best
17    interests of the Effingham community in all that he did; and

18        WHEREAS, Clyde L.  Martin  will  be  remembered  for  his
19    friendliness, honesty and good-heartedness; and

20        WHEREAS,  Clyde L. Martin will be deeply missed by family
21    and friends, especially his faithful wife Cleo, his daughters
22    Sharon and LaVonne, his son  Newlin,  daughter-in-law  Donna,
23    son-in-law     Pete,    nine    grandchildren    and    seven
24    great-grandchildren; and

25        WHEREAS, The loss of Clyde L. Martin will be deeply  felt
26    by  the community, family, and friends who will remember him;
27    therefore, be it

28        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL
29    ASSEMBLY  OF  THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, That we note with sorrow

 1    the death of Mr. Clyde L. Martin  and  extend  our  sincerest
 2    condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

 3        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 4    presented to the family of Mr. Clyde L. Martin.
