 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1068

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 1068 as follows:

 3    on page 8, line 3, by deleting everything after "land."; and

 4    on page 8, by deleting lines 4 through 7; and

 5    on  page  8,  by  replacing  lines  8  through  34  with  the
 6    following:
 7        "Upon receipt by the Department of information  from  the
 8    owner,  tenant,  or sharecropper that any one or more species
 9    of wildlife, other than a game bird  or  migratory  bird,  is
10    damaging dams, levees, ditches, or other property on the land
11    on  which  he  resides or controls, together with a statement
12    regarding location of the property damages,  the  nature  and
13    extent  of the damage, and the particular species of wildlife
14    committing  the  damage,  the  Department   shall   make   an
15    investigation.
16        If,  after  investigation, the Department finds that such
17    damage does to exist and can be abated only  by  removing  or
18    destroying  that  such  wildlife, a permit shall be issued by
19    the Department to remove or destroy the  species  responsible
20    causing the such damage.
21        A permit to control the such damage shall be for a period
22    of  up  to  90  days,  shall specify the means and methods by

 1    which and the person or persons by whom the wildlife  may  be
 2    removed  or  destroyed,  and  shall set forth the disposition
 3    procedure to be made of all wildlife taken,  and  such  other
 4    restrictions  as  the  Director considers deems necessary and
 5    appropriate in the  circumstances  of  the  particular  case.
 6    Whenever  possible, the specimens destroyed shall be given to
 7    a bona-fide  public  or  State  scientific,  educational,  or
 8    zoological institution.
 9        The  permittee  shall  advise  the Department in writing,
10    within 10 ten days after the expiration date of  the  permit,
11    of  the  number  of  individual  species  of  wildlife taken,
12    disposition made of them  same,  and  any  other  information
13    which the Department may consider necessary."; and

14    on page 9, by deleting line 1; and

15    on   page   9,   line   10,   by  deleting  everything  after
16    "information."; and

17    on page 9, by deleting lines 11 through 13.
