1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 582
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 582 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:
4 "Section 5. The following named sums, or so much thereof
5 as may be necessary, respectively, for the objects and
6 purposes hereinafter named, are appropriated from the General
7 Revenue Fund to the Board of Trustees of the University of
8 Illinois to meet the ordinary and contingent expenses of the
9 University of Illinois including payment to the University
10 for personal services and related costs incurred during the
11 fiscal year:
12 For Personal Services $579,436,000
13 (Included in the above amount is the sum of $32,451 for
14 the payment of interest on the endowment funds of the
15 University as provided in Section 2 of "An Act to make
16 appropriations for the University of Illinois and providing
17 for the management of funds of said University, and for
18 protecting the interests of the State in connection
19 therewith", approved June 11, 1897, as amended. Also
20 included in the above amount is a sum for salaries accrued
21 but unpaid to academic personnel for personal services
22 rendered during the academic year 1998-99.)

16 Section 10. The following named sums, or so much thereof
17 as may be necessary, respectively, for the objects and
18 purposes hereinafter named, are appropriated from the
19 Education Assistance Fund to the Board of Trustees of the
20 University of Illinois to meet the ordinary and contingent
21 expenses of the University of Illinois including payment to
22 the University for personal services and related costs
23 incurred during the fiscal year:
24 For Personal Services $70,079,700
25 (Also included in the above amount is a sum for salaries
26 accrued but unpaid to academic personnel for personal
27 services rendered during the academic year 1998-99.)

5 Section 15. The sum of $994,100, or so much thereof as
6 may be necessary, is appropriated from the Fire Prevention
7 Fund to the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois
8 for the purpose of maintaining the Illinois Fire Service
9 Institute, paying the expenses and providing the facilities
10 and structures incident thereto, including payment to the
11 University for personal services and related costs incurred
12 during the fiscal year.
13 Section 20. The sum of $290,000, or so much thereof as
14 may be necessary, is appropriated from the Real Estate
15 Research and Education Fund to the Board of Trustees of the
16 University of Illinois for the ordinary and contingent
17 expenses, including scholarships and payment to the
18 University for personal services and related costs incurred
19 during the fiscal year, of the Office of Real Estate
20 Research.
21 Section 25. The sum of $2,700,000, or so much thereof as
22 may be necessary, and remains unexpended on June 30, 1999,
23 from an appropriation heretofore made for such purpose in
24 Article 7, Section 60 of Public Act 88-0551, is
25 reappropriated from the Capital Development Fund to the Board
26 of Trustees of the University of Illinois to acquire and
27 develop land for expansion of the Chicago campus, including
28 demolition, landscaping and site improvements, planning,
29 construction, remodeling, extension and modification of
30 campus utility systems, and such other expenses as may be
31 necessary to construct a public safety and transportation

1 facility and to develop student recreational areas.
2 Section 30. The sum of $6,924,300, or so much thereof as
3 may be necessary, and remains unexpended on June 30, 1999,
4 from an appropriation heretofore made for such purpose in
5 Article 23, Section 35, of Public Act 90-0585, is
6 reappropriated from the Capital Development Fund to the Board
7 of Trustees of the University of Illinois to plan for all
8 aspects of construction and to acquire and develop land,
9 including demolition, landscaping, site improvements,
10 extension and modification of campus utility systems,
11 relocation of programs, and such other expenses as may be
12 necessary to construct a College of Medicine building in
13 Chicago.
14 Section 35. The sum of $43,000,000, or so much thereof
15 as may be necessary, is appropriated from the Capital
16 Development Fund to the Board of Trustees of the University
17 of Illinois to construct an education and research facility
18 for the College of Medicine in Chicago, including planning,
19 land acquisition, demolition, construction, remodeling,
20 landscaping, site improvements, equipment, extension or
21 modification of campus utility systems, relocation of
22 programs and such expenses as may be necessary to complete
23 the facility.
24 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July
25 1, 1999.".
