1 AN ACT to amend the Hospital Licensing Act by adding
2 Section 10.5.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by
6 adding Section 10.5 as follows:
7 (210 ILCS 85/10.5 new)
8 Sec. 10.5. Licensed clinical psychologist; staff
9 membership.
10 (a) "Licensed clinical psychologist" means a clinical
11 psychologist licensed under the Clinical Psychologist
12 Licensing Act.
13 (b) A hospital may choose to grant to a licensed
14 clinical psychologist an opportunity to obtain hospital
15 medical staff privileges to admit, treat, and discharge
16 patients within the scope of his or her license for the
17 practice of clinical psychology. Each hospital may determine
18 whether the applicant's training, experience, and
19 demonstrated competence are sufficient to justify the
20 granting of medical staff privileges or of limited medical
21 staff privileges.
22 (c) If a hospital grants a licensed clinical
23 psychologist medical staff privileges or limited medical
24 staff privileges under subsection (b) the psychologist or the
25 hospital shall, prior to or at the time of hospital admission
26 of a patient for medically necessary care, identify an
27 appropriate physician with admitting privileges at the
28 hospital who shall be responsible for the medical evaluation
29 and medical management of the patient for the duration of his
30 or her hospitalization.

1 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2 becoming law.
