1 AN ACT concerning public records.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Freedom of Information Act is amended by
5 changing Section 8 and adding Section 3.5 as follows:
6 (5 ILCS 140/3.5 new)
7 Sec. 3.5. Public access to electronically-stored
8 records. In making any public records available to any
9 person under this Act, the public body must provide the
10 record in the form or format requested by the person if the
11 public record is stored or is readily reproducible by the
12 public body in that form or format.

14 Sec. 8. If any public record that is exempt from
15 disclosure under Section 7 of this Act contains any material
16 which is not exempt, the public body shall delete the
17 information which is exempt and make the remaining
18 information available for inspection and copying. Where the
19 deletions are made from public records provided in electronic
20 form, the public body shall indicate which portions of the
21 records have been deleted and the extent of those deletions.

23 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
24 becoming law.
