6 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
 7 following:

8 "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by

12 (a) When operated upon any highway in this State, every
13 motorcycle shall at all times exhibit at least one lighted
14 lamp, showing a white light visible for at least 500 feet in

16 of such lighted lamp, a motorcycle may be equipped with and
17 use a means of modulating the upper beam of the head lamp
18 between high and a lower brightness. No such head lamp shall
19 be modulated, except to otherwise comply with this Code,
20 during times when lighted lamps are required for other motor
21 vehicles.

                            -2- LRB9101577KSgcam01
1 (b) All other motor vehicles shall exhibit at least 2
2 lighted head lamps, with at least one on each side of the
3 front of the vehicle, which satisfy United States Department

6 lamps, or lights of a yellow or amber tint, during the period
7 from a half hour after sunset to a half hour before sunrise,
8 at times when rain, snow, fog, or other atmospheric
9 conditions require the use of windshield wipers, and at any
10 other times when, due to insufficient light or unfavorable
11 atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway
12 are not clearly discernible at a distance of 1000 feet.
13 Parking lamps may be used in addition to but not in lieu of
