 1        AN ACT to amend the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois
 2    by adding Section 55.95.

 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:

 5        Section 5.  The Civil Administrative Code of Illinois  is
 6    amended by adding Section 55.95 as follows:

 7        (20 ILCS 2310/55.95 new)
 8        Sec. 55.95.  Asthma information.
 9        (a)  The Department of Public Health, in conjunction with
10    representatives   of   State  and  community  based  agencies
11    involved with asthma, shall develop and implement  an  asthma
12    information program targeted at population groups in Illinois
13    with  high  risk  of suffering from asthma, including but not
14    limited to the following:
15             (1)  African Americans.
16             (2)  Hispanics.
17             (3)  the elderly.
18             (4)  children.
19             (5)  those   exposed   to   environmental    factors
20        associated with high risk of asthma.
21             (6)  those with a family history of asthma.
22             (7)  those with allergies.
23        (b)  The  Department's  asthma  information program shall
24    include but need not be limited to information about:
25             (1)  the causes and prevention of asthma.
26             (2)  the types of treatment for asthma.
27             (3)  the availability of treatment for asthma.
28             (4)  possible  funding  sources  for  treatment   of
29        asthma.
30        (c)  The  Department shall report to the General Assembly
31    by January 1, 2000 upon its development and implementation of

 1    the asthma information program.

 2        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
 3    becoming law.
