1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestones in the
4 history of organizations of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, The West Suburban Special Recreation Association
6 will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year; and
7 WHEREAS, West Suburban Special Recreation Association was
8 formed in 1976 to serve Oak Park and River Forest residents
9 with disabilities; and
10 WHEREAS, Recognizing the need to serve all of their
11 residents and seeing the success of West Suburban Special
12 Recreation Association, the communities of Berwyn, Cicero,
13 Franklin Park, Norridge, Elmwood Park, and Forest Park joined
14 West Suburban Special Recreation Association ; and
15 WHEREAS, For 25 years West Suburban Special Recreation
16 Association has provided year round recreation opportunities
17 for residents of all ages and ability levels so that they can
18 develop friendships, build their self esteem, improve overall
19 fitness, and become a part of a larger community; and
20 WHEREAS, Over the past 25 years, West Suburban Special
21 Recreation Association has grown from offering a few programs
22 to providing comprehensive recreation and leisure services
23 for more than 4,000 registrants; and
24 WHEREAS, West Suburban Special Recreation Association has
25 developed a full service support system for inclusive
26 recreation so that residents can choose the type of
27 recreation they will participate in; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30 we honor the West Suburban Special Recreation Association on

1 its 25th Anniversary and for its leadership and commitment to
2 the recreational needs of special populations in Berwyn,
3 Cicero, Elmwood Park, Forest Park, Franklin Park, Norridge,
4 Oak Park and River Forest; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the West Suburban Special Recreation Association
7 as an expression of our esteem.
