1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives
4 of citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, The Illinois Department on Aging recently
6 announced the names of inductees into the Senior Illinoisans
7 Hall of Fame; and
8 WHEREAS, Tony Perry of Kankakee, Illinois was the honoree
9 in the Community Service category; Mr. Perry is a tireless
10 worker for his community, with many accomplishments on a
11 growing list; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Perry is described as the driving force
13 behind Christmas in April, a program where volunteers come
14 together to improve the homes of low income elderly and
15 disabled persons in and around Kankakee; with the economy of
16 Kankakee County a concern, he started the Area Jobs
17 Development Association, a cooperative effort between
18 Kankakee and two neighboring villages that resulted in new
19 employment and job retention; and
20 WHEREAS, Mr. Perry applied to the Illinois Housing
21 Development Authority and received HOME funding and tax
22 credits to purchase and rehabilitate seven apartment
23 buildings in Kankakee; he created the Hillcrest Association
24 of Responsible People, which saw the beginning of a
25 Neighborhood Watch program, an annual "Make a Difference
26 Day", an East Side Job Fair, and many other programs; and
27 WHEREAS, Mr. Perry also started "Illinois Ambassadors", a
28 not-for-profit organization of business men and women who
29 promote economic development across the State; Mr. Perry is a
30 fine example and a worthy name for induction into the Senior
31 Illinoisans Hall of Fame; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we congratulate Tony Perry on being named for induction into
4 the Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to Tony Perry, along with our sincere regards.
