 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, Daniel T. Flynn was named the Secretary  General
 3    of  U.S.  Soccer  by  U.S.  Soccer  President  Dr.  S. Robert
 4    Contiguglia on June 15, 2000; and

 5        WHEREAS, Daniel Flynn has held both sports marketing  and
 6    management positions at Anheuser-Busch, and has had more than
 7    ten  years  experience in the soccer arena, from working with
 8    the World Cup 1994, the U.S. Soccer Federation, and the  U.S.
 9    Soccer Foundation; and

10        WHEREAS,  Daniel  Flynn  has served the last two years as
11    the Executive Director of  the  U.S.  Soccer  Foundation;  he
12    created   several   programs,   including   the  U.S.  Soccer
13    Foundation Resource Center and AMERICA  SCORES;  and  he  was
14    instrumental  in  the  restoration  of  New  York's  historic
15    Metropolitan Oval; and

16        WHEREAS,   Daniel  Flynn  worked  with  the  U.S.  Soccer
17    Federation from 1994 to 1998, where he managed the day-to-day
18    operations at Federation headquarters in Chicago;  he  served
19    as  Chief Administrative Officer and later as Chief Operating
20    Officer; during this time he was responsible for  the  growth
21    of  the  budget, the development of Project 2010, and in U.S.
22    Soccer's partnership with Nike and IMG; and

23        WHEREAS,  Daniel  Flynn  was  also  responsible  for  the
24    further development of the U.S. Cup, the  U.S.  Women's  Cup,
25    and "Road to...." and "Victory" tours; and

26        WHEREAS,  During the 1994 World Cup in the United States,
27    Daniel Flynn  served  as  Venue  Executive  Director  of  the
28    Chicago venue, host of the opening ceremonies; and

29        WHEREAS, Daniel Flynn was born in St. Louis, Missouri; he
30    has  a  Bachelor  of Science degree in Finance from St. Louis
31    University; he  has  received  honors  from  Advertising  Age

 1    magazine  for  his  work  with Anheuser-Busch; he is a former
 2    board member of the Worldwide USO and is currently  a  member
 3    of the St. Louis University Hall of Fame; therefore, be it

 4        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 5    NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
 6    we  congratulate Daniel Flynn on his hard work and dedication
 7    to U.S. Soccer; as he assumes this new position we offer  him
 8    our best wishes for the future; and be it further

 9        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
10    presented to Daniel Flynn.
