1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor citizens in the State of
4 Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Joseph E. Fisher was the Director at the
6 Southern Will County Cooperative for Special Education
7 (SOWIC) from 1988 to 1995, when he passed away on December 22
8 of that year; and
9 WHEREAS, Joseph Fisher was the Assistant Superintendent
10 for the Illinois State Board of Education from 1977 to 1988;
11 he previously had been a teacher and counselor in the state
12 of Ohio; he was the past president of United Cerebral Palsy
13 in Joliet, the past president of the National Association of
14 State Directors of Special Education, and the Special
15 Education Director of the Southern Will County Cooperative
16 1998-1995; and
17 WHEREAS, Mr. Fisher is missed by all those who worked
18 with him; he is remembered for giving 100% to educating
19 children with special needs; he is sadly missed by his
20 family, his wife, Maryann Fisher, and his children, Julia,
21 Annie, Angel, John, and Joe; and
22 WHEREAS, In honor of the hard work and devotion to
23 education of Mr. Joseph Fisher, the Joseph E. Fisher School,
24 in Joliet, Illinois, will be dedicated at a ceremony on May
25 6, 2000; the school offers special education and therapeutic
26 services for students from kindergarten through eighth grade;
27 therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30 we remember with fondness the memory of Joseph E. Fisher, and
31 congratulate his family on this great honor; and be it
