1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the State
4 of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, The Square D Palatine Celtic Cup of Palatine,
6 Illinois, will be celebrating its 20th anniversary Labor Day
7 Weekend, 2000; and
8 WHEREAS, The soccer weekend begins on September 1 and
9 continues through September 4; 250 teams of girls (under 9
10 through under 19) and boys (under 9 through under 14) from
11 Illinois and up to 9 other Midwest states; there will be
12 4,000 participants and an estimated total of 16,000 guests
13 will descend on Palatine; and
14 WHEREAS, $3,000,000 in business revenue will be brought
15 into the Palatine area during this soccer weekend; the Celtic
16 Cup is supported financially by numerous businesses in and
17 around Palatine, especially the Square D Foundation; and
18 WHEREAS, Parents and volunteers help the Palatine Celtic
19 Soccer Club organize and run this big weekend event; the
20 event helps to promote sportsmanship, fair play, and
21 competitive fun for the participants; therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we congratulate the organizers, volunteers, teams and
25 participants, and the Square D Foundation on the 20th
26 anniversary of the Square D Palatine Celtic Cup; and be it
27 further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the organizers of the Square D Palatine Celtic
30 Cup.
