 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The highest award the National  Council  of  the
 3    Boy  Scouts  of  America  can  bestow upon a Scout is that of
 4    Eagle Scout; and

 5        WHEREAS, Gary Spencer of Boy  Scout  Troop  34,  in  Glen
 6    Carbon,  will  receive  the  Eagle  Scout Award at a Court of
 7    Honor to be held on April 16, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. in  the  new
 8    Senior  Citizens  Center behind the Glen Carbon Village Hall;
 9    and

10        WHEREAS, In order to qualify as an Eagle Scout,  a  young
11    man  must  demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, a
12    willingness to be of help to others, and superior  skills  in
13    camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and

14        WHEREAS, In earning this high rank, Gary Spencer joins an
15    elite and honorable fraternity of achievers that counts among
16    its  members  an  extraordinary number of this nation's great
17    leaders in business, government, education, and other sectors
18    of society; and

19        WHEREAS, The achievement  of  the  rank  of  Eagle  Scout
20    reflects  favorably  upon  the  recipient,  his  justly proud
21    family, his Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; therefore, be
22    it

23        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
24    NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25    we join his family and friends in congratulating Gary Spencer
26    upon attaining the coveted rank of Eagle  Scout  and  commend
27    him  for  the unswerving dedication to excellence that is the
28    hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it further

29        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
30    presented to Eagle Scout Gary Spencer as an expression of our
31    respect and esteem.
