1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Willie Strickland of Chicago will celebrate the fiftieth
8 anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, Willie Strickland and the former Roberta Jones
10 were united in holy matrimony on April 22, 1950 at City Hall
11 in Chicago; and
12 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Brian Strickland
13 and the proud grandparents of Alexander; and
14 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
15 highest plateaus when a couple such as Willie and Roberta
16 Strickland celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and
17 WHEREAS, The Stricklands stand as examples of the best of
18 our society, and their love and devotion to each other and to
19 their family and friends serve as a reminder to all that hard
20 work, dedication, and love can make a difference in today's
21 world; therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we congratulate Willie and Roberta Strickland on the occasion
25 of their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them
26 for achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with a child
27 and a grandchild and rich in friendships; and that we wish
28 them happiness and good health in the future; and be it
29 further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
