1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this House of Representatives are
3 pleased to recognize Illinois teachers who have given of
4 themselves unselfishly and set an example for their students;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, Four years ago, Richard Roth made an off-hand
7 comment to some students in Danville High School's Class of
8 2000; he was encouraging the students to get involved and
9 pledged to run 2,000 miles before the Class of 2000's
10 graduation day; and
11 WHEREAS, His determination and hard work of running at a
12 pace of ten miles every week over four years has paid off
13 with his running the last mile on Tuesday, March 14, 2000;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, The day Mr. Roth pledged to run, he challenged
16 his freshmen students to run the first 100 miles with him or
17 on their own; he wanted them to get involved in school
18 activities to give them a sense of belonging; and
19 WHEREAS, More teachers should have the devotion and
20 commitment that Richard Roth has; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23 we congratulate and applaud Richard Roth on running 2,000
24 miles for the Danville High School's Class of 2000; and be it
25 further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to Richard Roth.
