1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Midlothian United Methodist Church of
3 Midlothian, Illinois, will celebrate its 75th Anniversary
4 with week-long community-wide festivities beginning on April
5 10, 2000; and
6 WHEREAS, On Sunday, April 16, 2000, Bishop C. Joseph
7 Sprague of the Northern Illinois Conference will attend the
8 worship service which will conclude the week's celebration;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, All the former church pastors of the Midlothian
11 United Methodist Church have been invited "home" to
12 participate in the 75th Anniversary celebrations, and many
13 old friends and former church members will be reunited for
14 the occasion; and
15 WHEREAS, Though as a nation we are committed to the
16 principle of separation of church and state, nevertheless the
17 institution of the church and its beneficial influence on the
18 lives of its members is vital to the quality and preservation
19 of democracy; and
20 WHEREAS, The Midlothian United Methodist Church has
21 served the spiritual needs of the Midlothian Community for 75
22 years and shall continue its able ministry, celebrating with
23 the theme "Seventy-Five Years in Mission and Ministry";
24 therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we extend to the Reverend Amy Jo Jones, Pastor of the
28 Midlothian United Methodist Church, and to all the members
29 our best wishes upon the occasion of the celebration of the
30 church's 75th Anniversary; and be it further
31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

1 presented to The Reverend Amy Jo Jones of the Midlothian
2 United Methodist Church for acceptance by her on behalf of
3 all the members of the congregation.
