1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Leo Bernhard of Elwood, Illinois, will celebrate the fiftieth
8 anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, Leo and Lois Bernhard were united in holy
10 matrimony on February 11, 1950, at St. Mary Carmelite Church
11 in Joliet, Illinois; and
12 WHEREAS, The Bernhard family has been a farming family
13 for many generations; and
14 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of 12 children; and
15 the grandparents of 42; and
16 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
17 highest plateaus when a couple such as Leo and Lois celebrate
18 their golden wedding anniversary; and
19 WHEREAS, Leo and Lois stand as examples of the best of
20 our society, and their love and devotion to each other and to
21 their family and friends serve as a reminder to all that hard
22 work, dedication, and love can make a difference in today's
23 world; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
26 we congratulate Leo and Lois Bernhard on the occasion of
27 their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
28 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children
29 and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we wish
30 them happiness and good health in the future; and be it
