1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Gene S. Owens of LeRoy, Illinois, will celebrate the fiftieth
8 anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, Gene S. Owens and the former Jane E. Roy were
10 united in holy matrimony on December 16, 1949, at the
11 parsonage of Prairie Chapel in Farmer City, Illinois; and
12 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of David Owens,
13 Debbie Keele, and Mark Owens; and
14 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
15 highest plateaus when a couple such as Gene and Jane
16 celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and
17 WHEREAS, Gene and Jane stand as examples of the best of
18 our society, and their love and devotion to each other and to
19 their family and friends serve as a reminder to all that hard
20 work, dedication, and love can make a difference in today's
21 world; therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we congratulate Gene and Jane Owens on the occasion of their
25 fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
26 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children
27 and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we wish
28 them happiness and good health in the future; and be it
29 further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
