1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Illinois has long admired individuals who have
3 gone out of their way to assist others; and
4 WHEREAS, David Benoit is a person well known to friends
5 and families as someone who is always willing to help others;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, David Benoit is the son of Jeannine Benoit and
8 Richard Benoit, one of seven children, and a senior at Tinley
9 Park High School; and
10 WHEREAS, David Benoit, on the evening of September 23,
11 1999, went to assist a stranded motorist, Debbie Vetter, a
12 person unknown to David; and
13 WHEREAS, During his attempts to assist Ms. Vetter, David
14 Benoit was severely injured by an oncoming truck; and
15 WHEREAS, David's uncompromising spirit and inspiring
16 drive have assisted him in his recovery from multiple
17 fractures to his pelvic bone, severe injuries to both legs,
18 and amputation of his lower right leg; and
19 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives is pleased
20 to honor David Benoit as one of Illinois' finest citizens;
21 therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we honor David Benoit on this occasion and wish him health
25 and happiness in the future; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to him as a expression of our respect and
28 admiration.
