1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the State
4 of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2055 of Centralia,
6 Illinois, will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the
7 Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States with a
8 Membership Volunteer and Community Appreciation Banquet on
9 November 18, 1999; and
10 WHEREAS, The Ladies Auxiliary to the Centralia V.F.W.
11 Post was started on April 3, 1935; Hazel Bond served as the
12 first President with 54 members starting the group; Dorothy
13 Martin currently serves as President with 602 members under
14 her leadership; and
15 WHEREAS, V.F.W. Post 2055 in Centralia was chartered on
16 December 18, 1934; D. Warren served as the first Commander,
17 with 56 members under his leadership; Larry Owen serves as
18 the current Commander, with a membership of 763; therefore,
19 be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22 we commend V.F.W. Post 2055 of Centralia, Illinois, and the
23 Ladies Auxiliary on continuing to be a viable and active
24 presence in their community; through their hard work,
25 dedication, and service, Post 2055 will continue to be
26 recognized for all that they do; we wish them well as they
27 celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Veterans of Foreign
28 Wars of the United States; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to V.F.W. Post 2055 and the Ladies Auxiliary.
