1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The highest award the National Council of the
3 Boy Scouts of America can bestow upon a Scout is that of
4 Eagle Scout; and
5 WHEREAS, Alex Shaw of Boy Scout Troop 202, in Decatur,
6 will receive the Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor to be
7 held on October 24, 1999, at the Westminster Presbyterian
8 Church in Decatur; and
9 WHEREAS, In order to qualify as an Eagle Scout, a young
10 man must demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, a
11 willingness to be of help to others, and superior skills in
12 camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and
13 WHEREAS, In earning this high rank, Alex Shaw joins an
14 elite and honorable fraternity of achievers that counts among
15 its members an extraordinary number of this nation's great
16 leaders in business, government, education, and other sectors
17 of society; and
18 WHEREAS, The achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout
19 reflects favorably upon the recipient, his justly proud
20 family, his Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; therefore, be
21 it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we join his family and friends in congratulating Alex Shaw
25 upon attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout and commend
26 him upon the unswerving dedication to excellence that is the
27 hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to Eagle Scout Alex Shaw as an expression of our
30 respect and esteem.
