1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Two hundred and twelve years ago, the founding
3 fathers of this great nation put together profound words that
4 would shape our society and make us the country we are today;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, From September 17 through September 23, 1999,
7 the Daughters of the American Revolution, Prairie State
8 Chapter in Centralia, Illinois, will be celebrating
9 Constitution Week, designated each year by the President of
10 the United States of America; and
11 WHEREAS, The Constitution of the United States protects
12 our freedoms and preserves our rights; and
13 WHEREAS, The Constitution of the United States protects
14 every American from the abuse of power by the government; and
15 WHEREAS, The Framers of the Constitution of the United
16 States were individuals of profound intellect and integrity;
17 and
18 WHEREAS, The Government plan that they created has
19 endured longer than any other written constitution and has
20 been emulated by the world; and
21 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives and its
22 members recognize the importance of this historic document
23 and its relevance in today's society; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
26 we declare September 17 through September 23, 1999, to be
27 Constitution Week in the State of Illinois; we thank the
28 Prairie State Chapter of the Daughters of the American
29 Revolution for reminding us of this important part of our
30 nation's history; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the Prairie State Chapter of the Daughters of
3 the American Revolution.
