1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to honor Vivian Nichols for her hard
4 work and dedication to education and her community; and
5 WHEREAS, Vivian Nichols has announced her decision to
6 retire; and
7 WHEREAS, Vivian Nichols has served 32 years in her school
8 district, with Martin Van Lucas Elementary School, Parkside
9 Elementary School, John F. Kennedy Elementary School, and
10 Warren G. Harding Elementary School; and
11 WHEREAS, In her community, she has been involved with St.
12 Paul Baptist Church, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the East
13 St. Louis Pan-Hellenic Council, the Top Ladies of
14 Distinction, and has served for 15 years as the Treasurer for
15 the Committee to Re-elect Representative Wyvetter Younge; and
16 WHEREAS, Vivian Nichols is a Christian, a wife, a parent,
17 a teacher, a volunteer, and an all-around important part of
18 her community; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21 we salute Vivian Nichols; she has set an example through her
22 commitment to education and her community that others should
23 follow; our wish is the best for her retirement and future;
24 and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to Vivian Nichols.
