1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Reverend Lawrence Cozzi of Chicago on Friday,
4 May 14, 1999; and
5 WHEREAS, Father Cozzi was ordained as a missionary priest
6 of the Scalabrinians Order at Our Lady of Pompeii Church in
7 New York, and returned to St. Callistus Church in Chicago to
8 celebrate his first Mass; and
9 WHEREAS, During the last twenty years, Father Cozzi
10 served in the health care industry, helping to build Casa San
11 Carlo, a nursing home in Northlake; and
12 WHEREAS, His ability to counsel and understand spanned
13 generations; he was able to serve people of all ages, from
14 teens to senior citizens; and
15 WHEREAS, Father Cozzi's most recent assignment was as an
16 associate pastor of St. Anthony's Church in the Pullman
17 neighborhood of Chicago; and
18 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
19 and friends, especially his sister, Phyllis Hedin, and many
20 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23 we note with sorrow and regret the death of Reverend Lawrence
24 Cozzi and extend our sincere condolences to his family and
25 friends; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to his sister, Phyllis Hedin.
