1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are proud to acknowledge significant
4 milestones in the lives of Illinois citizens; and
5 WHEREAS, Ed Gonzalez was recently appointed to the City
6 Council of Calumet City to serve as 1st Ward alderman; and
7 WHEREAS, In the 105-year history of Calumet City, Mr.
8 Gonzalez will be the first Hispanic aldermanic appointment;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzalez and his wife, Carmen, have lived in
11 Calumet City since 1987; Mr. Gonzalez was appointed for three
12 reasons: to represent the 10% of the population that is
13 Hispanic, his work with the Calumet City Housing Authority
14 Board, and his work as a special agent for the Illinois State
15 Police; and
16 WHEREAS, Ed Gonzalez has a concern for police and fire
17 issues, and will serve on the city's Public Safety Committee;
18 Mr. Gonzalez has promised to represent the needs of everyone
19 in his ward; therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22 we congratulate Ed Gonzalez on being appointed the first
23 Hispanic alderman in Calumet City; may he work hard for his
24 ward and the people of Calumet City; and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to Ed Gonzalez.
