1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the members of
3 this Body welcome the opportunity to recognize citizens of
4 this State who make outstanding contributions to society; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Flavia
6 Hernandez, Principal of Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez School, was
7 a recipient of the Chicago Principals and Administrators
8 Associations' 1999 Outstanding Leadership Award; and
9 WHEREAS, Flavia Hernandez has been with the Chicago
10 Public Schools for fifteen years; she has been an elementary
11 school teacher and is the former Principal of Salazar
12 Bilingual Education Center; and
13 WHEREAS, She taught Adult English as a second language;
14 she currently provides this service at Ortiz de Dominguez to
15 50 parents; she created a day care service for 65 children to
16 allow parents to take classes; and
17 WHEREAS, She is also a former Catholic school teacher;
18 she taught at Blessed Agnes Grade School; and
19 WHEREAS, Her wise counsel and advice was a great
20 influence on her students, and she soon earned the respect
21 and affection of students, teachers, and staff; therefore, be
22 it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we congratulate Flavia Hernandez for winning the Chicago
26 Principals and Administrators Associations' 1999 Outstanding
27 Leadership Award and commend her for her dedication to her
28 profession; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to her as an expression of our respect and esteem.
