1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives
4 of its citizens; and
5 WHEREAS, John Biekert of Mascoutah is retiring after 22
6 years on the Mascoutah City Council; and
7 WHEREAS, The Mascoutah City Council will be honoring him
8 by proclaiming May 16, 1999 as "John Biekert Day" in the City
9 of Mascoutah; an open house will be held the same day
10 honoring Mr. Biekert; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Biekert has served the longest known term on
12 the City Council of Mascoutah; he was appointed by then Mayor
13 Perrottet for a 2-year term; over the years he has been
14 elected to four 5-year terms; as a member he has been active
15 annexing the land now used for Mid America Airport; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Biekert also served on the Mascoutah Library
17 Board for many years where he was instrumental in the
18 remodeling of the library and new building construction; and
19 WHEREAS, John Biekert will be enjoying his retirement
20 playing golf and spending time with his 6 children, 2
21 daughters and 4 sons; he is also retired from Peabody Coal's
22 Real Estate Division; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we congratulate John Biekert on his retirement from the
26 Mascoutah City Council; may he enjoy his future knowing that
27 he served his community well; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to John Biekert, along with our sincere regards.
