 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, Those individuals who minister to the  spiritual
 3    needs  of  others  are  worthy  of  the  highest  respect and
 4    admiration; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Father  George
 6    Klein  is  celebrating the 40th anniversary of his ordination
 7    into holy priesthood this year; and

 8        WHEREAS, Father Klein was ordained by Cardinal  Meyer  on
 9    May  7,  1959  and  this  anniversary  will  be celebrated on
10    Sunday, May 16, 1999, at a Mass and reception; and

11        WHEREAS, Father Klein grew up on the  northwest  side  of
12    Chicago, the son of George and Rosemary (Carroll), along with
13    his  brother  Ed  and  sister  Margaret  Jean (Trone); he was
14    educated at Reinberg and St. Pascal Grammar Schools,  entered
15    Quigley  Seminary, and graduated from St. Mary of the Lake in
16    Mundelein; and

17        WHEREAS, His first assignment after ordination was at St.
18    Gregory Church,  and  in  1965  he  was  transferred  to  St.
19    Benedict  Church;  while  at  St. Benedict's, he was asked to
20    take over as principal at the parish high school, a  post  he
21    held for 17 years; and

22        WHEREAS,  During  his tenure as principal, he served on a
23    number of State Associations and  Principal  Boards;  he  was
24    also  a  district  director  of the North Central Accrediting
25    Association; and

26        WHEREAS, Father Klein was  later  assigned  as  associate
27    pastor  at  Queen  of  Angels  Church for six months and then
28    named pastor at St. Monica Church, where he  spearheaded  the
29    building of a new church; and

30        WHEREAS,  In 1990, after returning from sabbatical in St.

 1    Louis, Father Klein served at St. Joseph Parish in  Wilmette,
 2    and  currently  serves  as  associate pastor of Saint Francis
 3    Xavier Parish; and

 4        WHEREAS, The illustrious life and  extraordinary  service
 5    of  Father Klein are a shining example of his love of God and
 6    the people of this State; therefore, be it

 7        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
 8    NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 9    we congratulate the  Reverend  George  Klein  upon  the  40th
10    anniversary of his ordination into holy priesthood; and be it
11    further

12        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
13    presented to Father George Klein as  a  token  of  our  great
14    respect and esteem.
