1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives
4 of the people of the State; and
5 WHEREAS, Music is an important part of our lives, and our
6 culture; music becomes a part of our daily routine early in
7 our lives, and many people benefit from all music has to
8 offer; and
9 WHEREAS, The Choral Department at Niles North High
10 School, under the direction of Daniel Gregerman, is a place
11 where music comes to be appreciated by the students; and
12 WHEREAS, The National Academy of Recording Arts &
13 Sciences has named Niles North High School a Grammy Signature
14 School; and
15 WHEREAS, Choir members from the school are invited on a
16 regular basis to perform at the Illinois Music Educators
17 Association's District and the All-State Music Festivals; and
18 WHEREAS, Members of Chorale, the advanced choir, have
19 received a superior rating at the Illinois High School
20 Association's Music Organization Festival for 1999; and
21 WHEREAS, Members of Take-One, the advanced vocal jazz
22 group, have been honored at the Annual Conference of the
23 International Association of Jazz Educators, the American
24 Choral Directors Association, and the Illinois Music
25 Educators Association Conference, and since 1995 they have
26 received Outstanding Performance Awards at the Western
27 Michigan University Gold Company Invitational Vocal Jazz
28 Festival; all of their awards and distinctions show they have
29 earned their reputation, in addition to their many accolades
30 for public and private performances throughout the area; and

1 WHEREAS, Chorale continues to impress the community, with
2 an invitation to perform at the American Celebration of Music
3 to be held in Salzburg, Austria in the Summer of 1999;
4 Take-One will be performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival in
5 Montreux, Switzerland, also during the summer of 1999;
6 together, these two groups show the importance of music to
7 our cultures, and to the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10 we congratulate the members of Chorale and Take-One on their
11 many achievements and awards; we congratulate Daniel
12 Gregerman as well, for his hard work and dedication in the
13 music arena; may the members of both groups continue on,
14 entertaining and impressing for many years to come; and be it
15 further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to Daniel Gregerman, director of the Choral
18 Department at Niles North High School.
