1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The State of Illinois ranks fourth of fifty
3 states with citizens serving on active duty in the United
4 States Armed Forces; and
5 WHEREAS, United States soldiers, sailors, airmen, and
6 Marines have been actively participating in "Operation Allied
7 Force"; and
8 WHEREAS, For a third time this century, the brave sons
9 and daughters of Illinois are standing ready against
10 aggression and cruelty on the European continent; and
11 WHEREAS, The great President Abraham Lincoln stated after
12 the Civil War, "that we shall care for those that have borne
13 the brunt of battle"; and
14 WHEREAS, The Illinois General Assembly, representing the
15 people of Illinois, will keep in their thoughts and prayers,
16 Army Spec. Steven Gonzales, Staff Sgt. Andrew Ramires, and
17 Staff Sgt. Christopher Stone, currently being held as
18 prisoners of war; and
19 WHEREAS, The citizens of Illinois can observe with pride,
20 the courage and elan of our servicemen serving on land, in
21 the air, and on the sea; therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we honor the courage and bravery of our Illinois men and
25 women serving overseas.
