1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Evie Stageberg on being
4 a dedicated volunteer; and
5 WHEREAS, Upon her retirement from Northwest Community
6 Hospital in 1983, Evie Stageberg immediately contacted
7 Volunteer Services at the Hospital; as a result she has been
8 volunteering on the same floor ever since; and
9 WHEREAS, In her almost eighteen years of volunteering at
10 the Hospital, she has contributed almost 33,100 volunteer
11 hours, the highest number ever reached by a volunteer at
12 Northwest Community Hospital; that is an unprecedented number
13 of hours anywhere; she has sometimes been there seven days a
14 week; and
15 WHEREAS, Three North is definitely Evie's unit; it is
16 there that she welcomes patients and visitors to the unit,
17 always with a cheerful greeting and a smile; patients look
18 forward to her warm reception and occasional delivery of
19 flowers or cards; the hospital purchased a delivery cart for
20 her to use, complete with her name on it; and
21 WHEREAS, Evie's young at heart spirit is contagious to
22 patients and co-workers around the unit; she is a very
23 special person who has given many hours so patients might
24 feel more comfortable and rest easier; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we thank Evie Stageberg for setting an example to volunteers
28 everywhere; through her dedication and love, she has
29 comforted many who needed her special brand of goodness; and
30 be it further
31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
