 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives   are   pleased   to   recognize  significant
 4    milestones in the lives of citizens of the State; and

 5        WHEREAS, Bill Jenner has announced  his  retirement  from
 6    the   O'Fallon   Township  School  Board  after  serving  for
 7    thirty-seven years; and

 8        WHEREAS, Bill  Jenner  has  attended  a  minimum  of  444
 9    meetings;  he  has  served  as president of the Board for the
10    past twenty years; and

11        WHEREAS, Illinois State Superintendent Glenn "Max"  McGee
12    recently  presented  Bill Jenner with a distinguished service
13    award; and

14        WHEREAS, Bill Jenner attended his first meeting in  April
15    of  1962;  at that time O'Fallon High School had 597 students
16    and was  on  probation  by  the  North  Central  Association,
17    awaiting accreditation; now the school has 1,903 students and
18    has  received  the  United  States  Department of Education's
19    Education Excellence Award; and

20        WHEREAS, Bill Jenner is a former National Weather Service
21    meteorologist and an O'Fallon alderman; he authored the first
22    policy manual for the school district in 1963; he sought  out
23    an evaluation by the U.S. Department of Education in 1987 for
24    the board, and encouraged an analysis of the board's policies
25    by the State School Board Association in 1996; and

26        WHEREAS,  Bill  Jenner  encourages new curriculum and the
27    addition of new classes; he has implemented a program to help
28    students with a risk of dropping out; and

29        WHEREAS, Bill Jenner and his wife  have  three  children,
30    all   with   advanced   doctorates;   they   also   have  six

 1    grandchildren; he and his wife plan on  walking  more  around
 2    the  neighborhood  and  spending  more  time  visiting  their
 3    family; therefore, be it

 4        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 5    NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
 6    we  congratulate  Bill Jenner on a job well done; through his
 7    dedication to education, the students of the O'Fallon  School
 8    District are better; and be it further

 9        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
10    presented  to   Bill   Jenner,   along   with   our   sincere
11    congratulations on his retirement.
