1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 John Sjoken of Rantoul celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of
8 their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, John and Mildred Sjoken were united in holy
10 matrimony on December 19, 1948 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church
11 in Gifford; and
12 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Gary Sjoken, Ron
13 Sjoken, Teri Orr, and Tami Capasso and the proud grandparents
14 of 7 grandchildren; and
15 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
16 highest plateaus when a couple such as John and Mildred
17 Sjoken celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and
18 WHEREAS, John and Mildred Sjoken stand as examples of the
19 best of our society, and their love and devotion to each
20 other and to their family and friends serve as a reminder to
21 all that hard work, dedication, and love can make a
22 difference in today's world; therefore be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we congratulate John and Mildred Sjoken on the occasion of
26 their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
27 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children
28 and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we wish
29 them happiness and good health in the future; and be it
30 further
