1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois General Assembly has enacted laws
3 to prohibit sexual harassment in the workplace and stands in
4 strong support of those laws; and
5 WHEREAS, Employees who have the courage and determination
6 to report violations of those laws in an effort to ensure a
7 safe and productive workplace deserve recognition and
8 appreciation; and
9 WHEREAS, Female employees of the Ford Motor Company in
10 Chicago Heights, Illinois have come forward to report
11 instances of harassment and intimidation; despite the
12 company's claim that disciplinary measures have been taken,
13 the women insist that it is late in coming, because the
14 complaints have been around for years; and
15 WHEREAS, The spirit and resolve of these women have
16 resulted in bringing about measures to rectify those illegal
17 conditions; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20 we support and applaud the actions of the women employees of
21 the Ford Motor Company for bringing the fundamental issues of
22 the workplace to our attention and extend our appreciation
23 for their courage; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
25 presented to the courageous women employees of the Ford Motor
26 Company.
