 1                       HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of  the  General  Assembly  wish  to
 3    extend  their sincere sympathies to the family and friends of
 4    those who perished during the tragic "City  of  New  Orleans"
 5    Amtrak   train   accident  that  occurred  near  Bourbonnais,
 6    Illinois on March 15, 1999; and

 7        WHEREAS, Those that lost their lives are: June Bonnin and
 8    Jessica Tickle  of  Nesbit,  Mississippi;  Lacey  and  Rainey
 9    Lipscomb  of  Lake  Cormorant,  Mississippi; Helena Adkins of
10    Bremerton,  Washington;  Marie  Munson  of  Mount   Prospect,
11    Illinois;  Kellchl Nomura of Tokushima, Japan; Leona, Vergil,
12    and Wendy Vant of Bremerton, Washington, and Sheena  Dowe  of
13    Jackson, Mississippi; and

14        WHEREAS, The members of the General Assembly also wish to
15    commend   those  brave  men  and  women  of  the  Village  of
16    Bourbonnais and surrounding Kankakee County  communities  who
17    risked  their  own lives to save those people involved in the
18    accident; we thank the police, fire, and rescue  departments,
19    as  well  as  the hospital personnel for their quick thinking
20    and response to the accident; we also commend the  businesses
21    in  Bourbonnais and nearby communities that helped out in any
22    way possible in this time of crisis; and finally  we  commend
23    the people of the area, who extended their hands to those who
24    needed  help  and support in this time of need; therefore, be
25    it

26        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
27    NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL  ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
28    SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we  mourn,  along  with  their
29    family  and friends, those who lost their lives in the Amtrak
30    accident in Bourbonnais; and be it further

31        RESOLVED, That we commend those involved in  helping  out
32    during a time of crisis; and be it further

 1        RESOLVED,  That  suitable  copies  of  this resolution be
 2    delivered to the Village of Bourbonnais and to  the  families
 3    of those who lost their lives in this tragedy.
