1 AN ACT concerning support payments.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Non-Support Punishment Act is amended by
5 changing Section 7 as follows:
6 (750 ILCS 16/7)
7 Sec. 7. Prosecutions by Attorney General. In addition
8 to enforcement proceedings by the several State's Attorneys,
9 a proceeding for the enforcement of this Act may be
10 instituted and prosecuted by the Attorney General in cases
11 referred by the Illinois Department of Public Aid involving
12 persons receiving child and spouse support services under
13 Article X of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Before referring
14 a case to the Attorney General for enforcement under this
15 Act, the Illinois Department of Public Aid shall notify the
16 person receiving child and spouse support services under
17 Article X of the Illinois Public Aid Code of the Department's
18 intent to refer the case to the Attorney General under this
19 Section for prosecution.
