 1        AN  ACT to amend the Illinois Public Aid Code by changing
 2    Section 9A-10.

 3        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:

 5        Section  5.   The  Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
 6    changing Section 9A-10 as follows:

 7        (305 ILCS 5/9A-10) (from Ch. 23, par. 9A-10)
 8        Sec. 9A-10. Support Services.
 9        (a)  The Illinois Department shall  provide  or  pay  for
10    child   care   and   other  support  services,  if  otherwise
11    unavailable,  to  enable  recipients  to  participate  in  or
12    prepare  for  education,  training  and  employment  programs
13    authorized under this Article.  The Illinois Department shall
14    provide and pay for such support services in accordance  with
15    procedures, standards and rates established by rule.
16        (b)  Support services may include:
17             (1)  transportation;
18             (2)  child care;
19             (3)  job search allowance;
20             (4)  initial employment expenses;
21             (5)  required books, fees, supplies; and
22             (6)  required   physical  examinations  and  medical
23        services.
24        (c)  Participation  shall  not  be  required  if  support
25    services  are  needed   for   effective   participation   but
26    unavailable  from  the  Department  or  some other reasonably
27    available source. Support services shall be made available to
28    the participant at no cost.
29        (d)  The  Department  shall  encourage  entities  in  the
30    private sector to subsidize  or  otherwise  assist  with  the
31    provision  of  support  services described in this Section to

 1    attract additional employees and to aid in the transition  of
 2    recipients under Article IV into full-time employment.
