91_HB1850eng HB1850 Engrossed LRB9104673KSpc 1 AN ACT to amend the Criminal Code of 1961 by adding 2 Section 31-9. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by 6 adding Section 31-9 as follows: 7 (720 ILCS 5/31-9 new) 8 Sec. 31-9. Concealed compartment in vehicle, watercraft, 9 or aircraft. 10 (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, business, 11 partnership, or corporation to knowingly create, modify, 12 alter, or add any false or foreign compartment to a motor 13 vehicle, watercraft, or aircraft for the purpose of 14 concealment of the compartment from peace officers or law 15 enforcement personnel. A violation of this subsection is a 16 Class 4 felony. 17 (b) It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly 18 possess any motor vehicle, watercraft, or aircraft containing 19 any false or foreign compartment created for the purpose of 20 concealment of the compartment from peace officers or law 21 enforcement personnel. A violation of this subsection is a 22 Class 4 felony. 23 (c) It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly 24 possess any motor vehicle, watercraft, or aircraft containing 25 any foreign compartment for the purpose of concealment of the 26 compartment from peace officers or law enforcement personnel 27 and utilize that compartment in the transportation of any 28 item or substance which the possessor of the motor vehicle, 29 watercraft, or aircraft is not allowed by law to own or 30 possess. A violation of this subsection is a Class 1 felony. 31
