1 AN ACT to amend the Nursing Home Care Act by adding
2 Section 2-209.5.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by
6 adding Section 2-209.5 as follows:
7 (210 ILCS 45/2-209.5 new)
8 Sec. 2-209.5. Emergency evacuation.
9 (a) A facility located in a county with a population in
10 excess of 3 million shall establish emergency evacuation
11 procedures for fire, power outage, gas or fume leak, or heat
12 failure. These procedures shall include information
13 regarding emergency housing and procedures to contact the
14 next of kin of each resident of the facility. The procedures
15 should be reviewed by the local fire chief.
16 (b) A facility shall conduct scheduled evacuation drills
17 to test for readiness.
18 (c) A facility shall submit a report to the Department
19 of Public Health detailing incidents, evaluations, and fines
20 levied on the facility, which shall be compiled by the
21 Department to be submitted quarterly to the General Assembly.
