1 AN ACT to amend the Counties Code by changing Section
2 5-1001.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing
6 Section 5-1001 as follows:
7 (55 ILCS 5/5-1001) (from Ch. 34, par. 5-1001)
8 Sec. 5-1001. Corporate name of county. Each county which
9 has been, or may be established in this State, according to
10 its the laws thereof, shall be a body politic and corporate,
11 by the name and style of "The county of ....," and by that
12 name may sue and be sued, plead and may be impleaded, defend
13 and be defended against in any court having jurisdiction of
14 the subject-matter, or other place where justice shall be
15 administered.
