1 AN ACT to amend the Nursing Home Care Act by adding
2 Section 2-202.1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by
6 adding Section 2-202.1 as follows:
7 (210 ILCS 45/2-202.1 new)
8 Sec. 2-202.1. Statement of charges.
9 (a) Upon request, a facility shall provide to the
10 resident or the resident's guardian, a person exercising the
11 resident's power of attorney, or a family member a statement
12 itemizing all charges incurred for the care of the resident
13 since his or her admission to the facility. The statement
14 shall include the following:
15 (1) a list of each type of service provided,
16 including pharmaceuticals, equipment use, ancillary
17 services, and the amount charged directly to the resident
18 or to any public or private health care program or
19 insurance;
20 (2) for any per diem rate listed, details of the
21 services provided at that rate;
22 (3) the agency to which the service was billed; and
23 (4) the resident's case mix designation as to the
24 level of care to be provided.
25 (b) The right to receive this information shall extend
26 to all residents of a facility whether private pay, Medicaid,
27 or Medicare.
