91_HB1393eng HB1393 Engrossed LRB9102767NTsb 1 AN ACT concerning higher education, amending named Acts. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Board of Higher Education Act is amended 5 by adding Section 9.29 as follows: 6 (110 ILCS 205/9.29 new) 7 Sec. 9.29. Tuition and fee waiver report. The Board of 8 Higher Education shall annually compile information 9 concerning tuition and fee waivers and tuition and fee waiver 10 programs that has been provided by the Boards of Trustees of 11 the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, 12 Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, 13 Governors State University, Illinois State University, 14 Northeastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois 15 University, and Western Illinois University and shall report 16 its findings and recommendations concerning tuition and fee 17 waivers and tuition and fee waiver programs to the General 18 Assembly by filing copies of its report by December 31 of 19 each year as provided in Section 3.1 of the General Assembly 20 Organization Act. 21 Section 10. The University of Illinois Act is amended by 22 adding Section 7h as follows: 23 (110 ILCS 305/7h new) 24 Sec. 7h. Tuition and fee waiver report. The Board of 25 Trustees shall report to the Board of Higher Education by 26 September 15 of each year the tuition and fee waivers the 27 University has granted in the previous fiscal year as well as 28 the following information for each tuition and fee waiver 29 program in which the University participates: HB1393 Engrossed -2- LRB9102767NTsb 1 (1) Justification of the need for the program. 2 (2) The program's intended purposes and goals. 3 (3) The program's eligibility and selection 4 criteria. 5 (4) The program's cost. 6 (5) Any benefits resulting from the program. 7 Section 15. The Southern Illinois University Management 8 Act is amended by adding Section 8h as follows: 9 (110 ILCS 520/8h new) 10 Sec. 8h. Tuition and fee waiver report. The Board shall 11 report to the Board of Higher Education by September 15 of 12 each year the tuition and fee waivers the University has 13 granted in the previous fiscal year as well as the following 14 information for each tuition and fee waiver program in which 15 the University participates: 16 (1) Justification of the need for the program. 17 (2) The program's intended purposes and goals. 18 (3) The program's eligibility and selection 19 criteria. 20 (4) The program's cost. 21 (5) Any benefits resulting from the program. 22 Section 20. The Chicago State University Law is amended 23 by adding Section 5-93 as follows: 24 (110 ILCS 660/5-93 new) 25 Sec. 5-93. Tuition and fee waiver report. The Governors State University Law is 23 amended by adding Section 15-93 as follows: 24 (110 ILCS 670/15-93 new) 25 Sec. 15-93. Tuition and fee waiver report.
