91_HB0891enr HB0891 Enrolled LRB9101068PTpk 1 AN ACT concerning commemorative medallions. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the 5 Commemorative Medallions Act. 6 Section 5. Issuance of commemorative medallions. The 7 State Treasurer may issue medallions to commemorate popular 8 contemporaneous events of Statewide interest. 9 The Treasurer shall select one or more vendors for the 10 production, distribution, marketing, and sale of the 11 medallions. The Treasurer shall require that the vendors 12 share a percentage of the proceeds of the sale of the 13 medallions with a not-for-profit corporation organized under 14 the General Not For Profit Corporation Act of 1986 that is 15 related to the public purpose for which the medallions were 16 issued. 17 Section 10. Selection of events to be commemorated. The 18 General Assembly shall select the events to be commemorated 19 by joint resolution adopted by the affirmative vote of at 20 least three-fifths of the members elected to each house. The 21 State Treasurer may recommend a limit of the number of series 22 of medallions to be issued in a calendar year by giving 23 notice of the recommended limitation to the General Assembly 24 before December 1 of the preceding calendar year. 25 Section 15. Rules. The State Treasurer may promulgate 26 rules to implement this Act. 27 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 28 becoming law.
