1 AN ACT to amend the Criminal Code of 1961 by changing
2 Section 24-5.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by
6 changing Section 24-5 as follows:
7 (720 ILCS 5/24-5) (from Ch. 38, par. 24-5)
8 Sec. 24-5. Defacing identification marks of firearms.
9 (a) Any person who shall knowingly or intentionally
10 change, alter, remove or obliterate the name of the maker,
11 model, manufacturer's number or other mark of identification
12 of any firearm commits a Class 2 felony.
13 (b) Possession of any firearm upon which any such mark
14 has shall have been changed, altered, removed or obliterated
15 shall be prima facie evidence that the possessor has changed,
16 altered, removed or obliterated the same.
