1 AN ACT to amend the Veterans Burial Places Act by
2 changing Section 1.1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Veterans Burial Places Act is amended by
6 changing Section 1.1 as follows:
7 (330 ILCS 110/1.1) (from Ch. 21, par. 59a1)
8 Sec. 1.1. When a headstone or memorial marker is
9 provided for a United States War Veteran by the United States
10 Government pursuant to Section 2306 of Title 38 of the United
11 States Code, the Department of Veterans' Affairs shall pay an
12 amount not to exceed $100 to the next of kin, or cemetery
13 official, or monument company official responsible for the
14 cost of transporting and erecting the headstone or memorial.
15 However, no such payment shall be made unless a signed
16 application is presented to the Department by the next of
17 kin, or cemetery official, or monument company official,
18 along with such other proof of transportation or erection
19 charges as the Department may require. All such applications
20 for payment shall be on forms provided by the Department.

22 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
23 becoming law.
