91_HB0463eng HB0463 Engrossed LRB9102499DHmg 1 AN ACT to create the Illinois Conservation Congress. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the 5 Illinois Conservation Congress Act. 6 Section 5. Conservation Congress. There is established 7 the Illinois Conservation Congress within the Department of 8 Natural Resources. 9 Section 10. Purpose. The purpose of the Congress is to 10 propose and advocate actions that can be taken by elected and 11 appointed officials to protect and conserve the natural 12 resources of the State and to ensure through professional 13 management that sustainable use, recreational opportunities, 14 and enjoyment of these resources is available for this and 15 future generations. 16 Section 15. Duties. The Conservation Congress shall 17 serve to advise the Department of Natural Resources. The 18 Congress' recommendations and resolutions are to be 19 considered as an indication of constituency needs and views 20 on natural resources in Illinois. The Conservation Congress 21 shall operate according to its bylaws and be composed of 22 representatives from recognized organizations in Illinois, 23 including, but not limited to, not-for-profit corporations, 24 businesses, or other entities whose goals and actions 25 demonstrate a commitment to the protection, conservation, 26 sustainable use, and recreational enjoyment of Illinois' 27 natural resources. 28 Section 20. Administration. The Department of Natural HB0463 Engrossed -2- LRB9102499DHmg 1 Resources shall adopt rules to further the creation and 2 administration of the Illinois Conservation Congress. 3 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 4 becoming law.
